What is OMR?

This acronym, OMR, stands for Optical Mark Reader or Optical Mark Recognition.  Effectively a technology that scans paper forms and recognises the marks made on the form.    Marks are typically made with pencil and read with Infra Red (IR) LEDs although Visible Light (VLR) LEDs are also in used to recognise pen marks.

The technology is very old (originates from late 50's and early 60's) and pioneered by hardware companies such as NCS Pearson, DRS Data Research Services, Scantron,  Scanning Systems, Sekonic and Axiome.

What do we do?

Although old, it is still very appropriate.  IQ Software have recognised the weaknesses in a hardware only solution and have developed a software solution (IQ OMR)  to handle capture of discrete marks using industry standard scanners using ISIS and TWAIN interfaces.  The advantages of our solution are:

1. Not limited to specialist printing - print your own forms.
